Wednesdays are my busy days. Work pretty much all day, and a few classes nestled between. Film club meeting in 10 minutes, afraid this will be a short one. I present my latest garbage by yours truly, enjoy, feedback appreciated. The topic was a political poem, anyone who knows me, knows that I am probably the least political guy out there...but I took a crack at it. Utter Disbelief By: Christopher Marshall Wipe the crusties from my eyes The aroma of fragrant beans Filled my nostrils Nestled safely in my sofa I relax and read the paper Nothing but death My eyes roll across numerous topics From social security to national security All the way to the funnies There it is In big, bold, black ink “Iran seeks nuclear empowerment” My head begins to spin Like I am on a carnival ride Gone haywire Thousands of miles away Hundreds die a day Often for no reason Children are handed guns, grenades, ammunition Toys of an older generation To fight our boys over there Iran now seeks our attention On purpose or not They have achieved it What will tomorrow’s paper bring?
